The city of Tyler is located about 20 minutes northeast of Brown’s Landing. Known to most as the “Rose Capital”, this progressive East Texas city has plenty to offer both residents and visitors. 

Arts and Culture
There is no need to drive to the big city for your culture fix. Tyler is home to the Tyler Ballet, Tyler Museum of Art, and East Texas Symphony, while neighboring Longview hosts the East Texas Opera. The Cowan Center on the University of Texas at Tyler campus attracts well-known musical acts, touring Broadway shows, and distinguished lecturers. Favored by kids are the nationally recognized Caldwell Zoo, Discovery Science Museum, Brookshire’s Wildlife Museum, and Hudnall Planetarium. 

Festivals and Wineries
Festivals in Tyler and the surrounding areas are perfect for the entire family – especially the annual Azalea Trail and Spring Flower Show, and the Texas Rose Festival. Many neighboring towns host their own unique festivals such as the Jacksonville Tomato Festival, Gilmer’s Yamboree, and Kilgore’s Texas Shakespeare Festival. There are several wineries a short drive away including Kiepersol Winery and the Los Pinos Winery. 

Shopping
For those who love to shop, Tyler is home to big-chain retail stores, upscale boutiques, and charming antique stores. For those who like to shop for a little bit of everything, world-famous Canton’s “First Monday” Trade Days is just a short drive away.

Golf
Tyler and the surrounding area is a golfer’s paradise. There are dozens of courses in and around Tyler, both public and private. To see the pros in action, attend the Texas State Open, held annually right here in Tyler at The Cascades.

The Tyler community continues to grow, thanks in part, to our outstanding medical facilities. We’re home to three major hospitals – Trinity Mother Frances Hospital, East Texas Medical Center, and University of Texas at Tyler – as well as many specialty clinics and physicians.
